The Equality & Unity Department establishes Bangwing IN's foundational commitment to diversity, inclusion, anti-discrimination, and genuine belonging for all members. These guidelines define what it means to be part of a community that values every individual regardless of background, identity, ability, or circumstance.
The Social Contract is not a set of rules imposed from above — it is an agreement between all members to create a space where everyone can show up authentically without fear of discrimination, exclusion, or dehumanization. Every person who joins Bangwing IN implicitly accepts this contract and shares responsibility for upholding it.
| # | Principle | Summary |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Equal Dignity | Every member possesses inherent dignity regardless of identity, background, or status. No characteristic makes a person more or less deserving of respect and equal treatment. |
| 2 | Active Inclusion | Inclusion is not passive tolerance — it requires active effort to welcome, include, and make space for those who might otherwise be marginalized or overlooked. |
| 3 | Zero Tolerance for Dehumanization | Content or behavior that strips people of their humanity based on identity characteristics will never be tolerated, regardless of intent, framing, or claimed context. |
| 4 | Intersectionality Awareness | Members hold multiple identities simultaneously. Discrimination often occurs at the intersection of multiple characteristics. The community recognizes and addresses this complexity. |
| 5 | Shared Responsibility | Creating an equitable community is everyone's responsibility. Active allyship and upstander behavior — reporting, correcting, or supporting those affected — are expected and valued. Only active amplification or discouragement of reporting is treated as a rule violation under Rule 7. |
All rules apply at all times. Ignorance of a rule does not exempt a member from consequences. Intent is considered in determining severity of response — but does not determine whether a rule applies.
Members must not discriminate against, demean, or treat others differently based on any protected characteristic — including but not limited to race, ethnicity, caste, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, nationality, and age. Equal treatment is non-negotiable. This rule governs differential treatment and conduct toward members; for the prohibition on hate speech and dehumanizing expression itself, see the Bill of Rights, Rule 1.

| Prohibited | Negative stereotyping or generalizing about entire groups based on identity · Treating members differently based on race, ethnicity, caste, gender, religion, sexuality, disability, nationality, age, or other protected characteristics · Content that portrays any group as inherently inferior, subhuman, or undeserving of rights or dignity |

| Consequences | First violation — content removed or correction issued; formal warning · Repeated or escalating violations — progressive timeouts (1 hour → 24 hours → 7 days) · Caste-based discrimination or severe, targeted differential treatment — immediate extended timeout or permanent ban · Severity assessed based on intent, pattern, and impact |
| Exceptions | (Only if applicable — leave blank if none) |
